About

Who is Sola O. Oyekunle aka DrSho
I am a woman , wonderfully and fearfully made with a lot of history and life experiences. I am also well educated and have benefitted immensely from both coaching and counselling and have supported many women to find themselves again after “life” happens.

I graduated as a medical doctor in 1991, practiced as a generalist for about 9yrs, then took a break from medicine and went into entrepreneurship to develop my other skills. I got my MBA in 2003 and enjoyed entrepreneurship for another decade or so. Then i went back to postgraduate medical school to do my fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, followed by sub-specialization training in infertility and assisted conception. I have recently completed more schooling still, obtaining a diploma in Professional Counselling and a Certificate as a Life Skills Coach. My career is now focused on Life Coaching and Mental Health & Addictions Counselling.

While working as an Obstetrician/ Gynaecologist , I developed a burden to reach out to women in the community. I saw so much pain and suffering, secondary to a huge variety of causes ranging from relationship trauma, sexual assault, cancer diagnosis to disenfranchised grief from loss of pregnancy, inability to get pregnant or carry it to safe delivery, dysfunctional marriages, intimate partner violence, gender-based violence and lots more trauma that are peculiar to women.

DrSho
Reaching out to women, I found we had been societally programmed to endure trauma, overlook our needs while meeting the needs of everyone else.
By the age of 45-55 years many women have given up on their dreams, ignored self care and are unprepared for the drastic life transitions that happen during this season of life.
As a life Coach and Mental Health Counsellor, I am passionate in supporting Women, Couples and families as they navigate through life challenges, and mental health issues.
Mental Health issues mean anything and everything that affects a persons emotional, psychological and mental wellbeing, irrespective of the cause. Anxiety, Depression, Disorganized/Comfort Eating, Paranoia, Excessive Fearfulness, Excessive Anger and Violence, Excessive Alcohol intake, Addiction to anything, are some ways mental health issues shows up in our lives. Left to fester, they can greatly impact our quality of life, distort our personality, disrupt our brain activity and even lead to death, suicide and more serious mental illness.
My role as a counsellor and coach is to support clients to interrupt this chain of events, re-orient themselves, break the cycle of pain and re-channel their lives in ways that lead to more life enhancing outcomes rather than progression into debilitation and loss.
Vision
To empathetically support and empower individuals with the tools they need to heal, grow, and thrive through all forms of trauma, mental health and addiction challenges with resilience and purpose.
Mission
“To foster a world where every individual has access to compassionate mental health care, empowering them to heal, grow, and achieve emotional well-being. I envision a future where individuals embrace their vulnerabilities, transform their challenges, and develop the resilience needed to lead fulfilling lives, free from stigma and filled with hope, purpose, and self-actualization.”
